— MEET CHET HUGHES, PMHNP-BC

Founder, Mosaic MindCare | Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Hi, I’m Chet — a psychiatric nurse practitioner with nearly 15 years of experience in mental health and nursing. I began my career in inpatient psychiatry and the emergency room, caring for people in crisis and learning the importance of calm, compassionate support in high-stress moments.

Over time, I transitioned into outpatient care to build deeper, longer-term relationships with the people I serve. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and mood challenges — always taking a thoughtful, evidence-based approach.

I often collaborate with therapists to ensure care is consistent and connected. Whether you’re new to psychiatric care or looking for something that feels more human, I’m here to help you move forward — at your own pace.

Let’s take the next step, together.

Partnership Over Prescription
Partnership Over Prescription

Mental health care should never feel cold or impersonal. I believe in walking alongside you — not just prescribing to you. Together, we’ll explore your goals and create a plan that truly feels right for you, whether that means medication, lifestyle support, or working closely with your therapist for a well-rounded, connected approach.

Supportive Therapy That Meets You Where You Are
Supportive Therapy That Meets You Where You Are

Sometimes, the most healing thing is having someone who listens, understands, and walks with you through the hard parts. I offer supportive therapy alongside medication management — whether in collaboration with a trusted therapist you already work with or by helping you connect with someone new — so your care feels seamless, steady, and truly centered on you.

Deeply Personalized Support

Your story, your strengths, and your struggles are uniquely yours — and your care should be, too. I combine the best of psychiatric research with a whole-person perspective, looking at sleep, nutrition, stress, and more, so we can help you feel better, function better, and live with greater ease and fulfillment.

Respect, Always

Your voice matters deeply here. You won’t be rushed, dismissed, or made to feel like a number. Whether you’re just beginning your mental health journey or coming back after a tough experience, this is a place where you’re safe, supported, and truly heard. Together, we’ll move at your pace, focusing on what feels most meaningful and helpful for you right now.

My Background & Approach

📚 Education & Licensure
I earned my Master of Science in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing and am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), fully licensed in New York State. As a recipient of Stony Brook’s Faculty Scholarship Award, I bring a commitment to lifelong learning and excellence in patient care, grounded in evidence-based practice, whole-person care, and a deep respect for the individual behind the diagnosis.

🩺 Clinical Experience
With nearly 15 years in healthcare, I’ve worked in high-intensity settings like emergency rooms and inpatient psychiatric units before shifting into outpatient care — where I can build long-term, trusting relationships with the people I serve.

I’ve had the privilege of supporting adolescents and adults through anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, mood disorders, and complex mental health presentations.

I often work closely with therapists as part of a collaborative, connected approach to care. I also stay current through ongoing education and training, ensuring the care I provide is informed by both research and real-world insight.

At Mosaic MindCare, I combine clinical expertise with curiosity, patience, and heart — so you feel supported not just as a patient, but as a person.
